Sicilia Bambaataa
A collection of texts and images narrates Benassi’s namesake sound installation at the Castle of Castelbuono, Sicily, in 2014. A loop of sounds accompanied the daily routine of Castelbuono citizens, an interrupted broadcasting of nature sounds and “auditory smog” (cars, trains, and planes) mixing and overlapping. An homage to famous rapper and DJ Kevin Donovan (aka Afrika Bambaataa) and his Post-Migrational Rap uniting synthetic and rap music cultures.
