Verticality as Fantastic Occupation
The book Verticality as Fantastic Occupation is Štefan Papčo’s first monograph, with texts by Daniel Grúň, Matteo Lucchetti, Štefan Papčo, Dieter Roelstraete, and Elena Sorokina. Štefan Papčo’s work is situated in such a perspective, of body and gravity, movement and perception. Suspicious of today’s vertical visuality, Papčo’s work traces it back to the “modern obsession” it once was and simultaneously questions it. The “climbers’ verticality” activated by Papčo are contradictory, unstable, and performative.
