NERO is an international publishing house devoted to art, criticism and contemporary culture. Founded in Rome in 2004, it publishes artists’ books, catalogs, editions and essays.

NERO explores present and future imaginaries beyond any field of specialization, format or code – as visual arts, music, philosophy, politics, aesthetics or fictional narrations – extensively investigating unconventional perspectives and provocative outlooks to decipher the essence of this ever changing reality.

Silvia Franceschini

is curator at Z33 — House for Contemporary Art, Design and Architecture in Hasselt, Belgium. She is co-editor of the research platform Hostile Environment(s). Designing Hostility, Building Refugia. Her selected curatorial projects include: the exhibitions Le Déracinement. On Diasporic Imaginations and Lives of Forms. Kamrooz Aram, Iman Issa at Z33 (2021), The Politics of Affinity. Experiments in Art, Education and the Social Sphere at Città dell'arte – Fondazione Pistoletto, Biella (2016–18); she was part of the curatorial team of The School of Kyiv — Kyiv Biennial 2015, and curated the exhibition, symposium, and educational program Global Tools 1973 — 1975: Towards an Ecology of Design at SALT, Istanbul (2014) and the exhibition The Way of Enthusiasts, V-A-C Foundation (2012). Franceschini is co-author of Global Tools 1973–1975. When Education Coincides With Life, Nero Editions (2018) and editor of Curator Without a System. Viktor Misiano. Selected Writings, Sternberg Press (Forthcoming, 2021).
