NERO is an international publishing house devoted to art, criticism and contemporary culture. Founded in Rome in 2004, it publishes artists’ books, catalogs, editions and essays.

NERO explores present and future imaginaries beyond any field of specialization, format or code – as visual arts, music, philosophy, politics, aesthetics or fictional narrations – extensively investigating unconventional perspectives and provocative outlooks to decipher the essence of this ever changing reality.

Ilaria Biotti

is a Berlin-based visual artist and researcher. Her practice explores imagination as an active agent in the production of landscape through processes of spatial montage. Drawing and moving images are central to her investigation of the social and political implications of ideal landscapes and their role in shaping cultural space. Her work has been presented through exhibitions, conferences, and residencies at international venues including the 5th Athens OMONOIA Biennale, Cittadellarte–Fondazione Pistoletto, the Goethe-Institut in Bogotá, the Italian Cultural Institute in Cape Town, the NSK State Pavilion at the 57th Venice Biennale, Tate Exchange in London, Transmediale CAPTURE ALL in Berlin, and Society for Artistic Research. She is currently part of PhDArts, a joint doctoral programme of Leiden University and the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague.
