NERO is an international publishing house devoted to art, criticism and contemporary culture. Founded in Rome in 2004, it publishes artists’ books, catalogs, editions and essays.

NERO explores present and future imaginaries beyond any field of specialization, format or code – as visual arts, music, philosophy, politics, aesthetics or fictional narrations – extensively investigating unconventional perspectives and provocative outlooks to decipher the essence of this ever changing reality.

Alex Gence

is an artist, researcher, programmer and consultant working on technology, art and aesthetics. They are currently doing an MA in Art History at the University of Geneva and have been working as an assistant at the HEAD – Genève at the Master CCC - Critical Curatorial Cybermedia at HEAD – Genève since 2021, where they completed an MFA in 2020. They have worked as a consultant and developer for the following projects: Figures Glaniques by Dorian e Geneste, 2020; A turn on, a turn off by Rita Hajj, NetEncounters, HEK, Basel, CH, 2021; Playground Platform, 2022; Luigi ego mania, 2023. Their research investigates the use of machine learning, Artificial Intelligence and web technologies in artistic production and art theory.
